The kickoff day for the orientation of skill competition managers for the major Skills Games 2027 event was held yesterday, Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at Omnia. Skills Games 2027 brings together Abilympics, the world championship for professionals with special needs, and Finland’s national championship, Taitaja, from 10 to 13 May 2027 in Helsinki, Finland.

The kickoff gathered a large group of skill competition managers from both competitions.

“The goal of the kickoff was to lay a firm basis for the work and collaboration of skill competition managers in both competitions, as well as to inspire them and help them get to know one another,” says Katri Pokkinen, Competition Director for Abilympics Helsinki 2027.

During the day, skill competition managers learned important information about the Abilympics and Taitaja competitions, the Skills Games mega-event as a whole, the schedule, shared practices, and common goals.

In the afternoon, participants worked in groups, explored information about each other’s skills, got to know one another better, and shared thoughts and insights from the day as well as ideas for the upcoming event.

“The day left us feeling enthusiastic and confident that, with these top professionals and their expertise, we can organise something truly meaningful and remarkable together,” Pokkinen summarises.

The kickoff provided a great start and a strong foundation for collaborative work towards delivering high-quality and unique Abilympics and Taitaja competitions, and the entire Skills Games 2027 mega-event.
