Character Design
Creation and design of characters according to given theme using computer softwares.
Description of the skill
Character Design is the creation and illustration of original characters based on a given theme, using digital tools. The skill requires a blend of creativity, storytelling, and technical proficiency in digital illustration and design software. The process is divided into three key stages: planning, artwork and narration. Competitors conceptualise the character, considering personality, role, and visual style aligned with the theme. Then using 2D sketching software, participants create detailed digital illustrations, focusing on anatomy, expression, costume, and overall design. Lastly the competitors write a descriptive text that outlines the character’s traits, background, and the context in which they interact. This narrative supports the visual design and adds depth to the character’s identity.
