Finland’s Minister of Education highlights Skills Games 2027 as showcase for equality and competence

In a video greeting released ahead of the Abilympics Helsinki 2027 competition and Skills Games 2027 mega-event, Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz called the Helsinki event an international arena for demonstrating equality and equal opportunities in practice. The Ministry has supported the Abilympics Helsinki 2027 competition since the application stage and now serves as its main financier.
The Minister outlined three reasons the event matters to the Ministry: that everyone has the right to show their expertise and skills, that vocational competence deserves greater visibility, and that the Skills Games help build a more inclusive society. Along the way, he noted the event also gives Finland a chance to show its vocational education system to the world.
Adlercreutz also stressed three priorities for making the event a success: keeping competitors at the centre of every decision, strengthening cross-organisational cooperation between Skills Finland, Omnia and over 20 organising vocational institutions, and ensuring communications focus on competence rather than limitations.
Summing up his message, the Minister said the Skills Games and Abilympics Helsinki 2027 are a chance to show “what Finnish competence, cooperation and equality mean at their best,” and thanked the teachers, coaches, students and partners preparing for the event.
