Signmark’s theme song for Skills Games event inspires a celebration of skills and togetherness

The official theme song for Skills Games 2027, “Together We Make History”, and its music video were released on 19 August 2026 during the live opening broadcast of the Skills Games 2027 year.
Together We Make History is about doing things together, about skills, and about everyone being included and considered – values that lie at the heart of the entire Skills Games mega-event.
The song is performed by Signmark, a sign-language hip-hop artist and the world’s first deaf artist to sign an international record deal. His singing voice is provided by Olli Hartonen, known among other things from The Voice of Finland.
The song’s backing choir and music video also feature skilled professionals from a total of eight educational institutions: Live Vocational College, Luovi Vocational College, Careeria, Omnia the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo Region, Kiipula Vocational College, Salpaus Further Education, Stadin AO, and the Kaarisilta Art and Activity Centre.
Doing things together makes everything bigger
Signmark says it is incredible how combining music and sign language can build cooperation between countries and cultures and lift a shared mood. He emphasises the importance of doing things together and of community, of encouraging others, and of believing in yourself and what you do. These come through strongly in the theme song as well.
“Through doing things together, everything becomes bigger. That’s the feeling I also want to give to this Skills Games event,” Signmark described in his interview during the opening broadcast.
Central to the song and its music video is the American Sign Language sign for “together”, a shared symbol and greeting for all the different skilled professionals at Skills Games 2027.
Skills Games
The Skills Games mega-event, held from 10 to 13 May 2027 in Helsinki, brings together two major vocational skills competitions: Abilympics Helsinki 2027, the world championship for professionals with special needs, and Taitaja 2027, the Finnish national championship for young skilled professionals. The event features over 80 skills and more than 800 competitors. The event aims to attract over 120,000 visitors.
Skills Finland is responsible for organising the overall Skills Games event and the Abilympics competition, while Omnia will coordinate the Taitaja competition. Over 20 vocational education and training providers are involved in delivering the event. The Ministry of Education and Culture supports the organisation of both competitions.
